I submitted the completion report to the Arts Council of Wales last week. I've put all the scripts, all the creative output, all the filled out feedback forms in a box. So the R&D is officially over. I then realised I had been keeping these journal type notes on my laptop with the intention of writing a blog, but never did because I was so busy/ waiting for picture/... They might be helpful for other people interested in Game Theatre, so here they are published.
So where do we go from here? The feedback from our game tests has shown that there is a huge demand for this type of show. It has also shown that there isn't a lot of work out there like this and the little that does exist is often inaccessible to young people: it's too far away and/or too expensive.
So I want to make this into a full production, but I want it to be within a young person's price range and I want it to be local. My next step is finding a partner venue: somewhere outside of big cities. Somewhere close to the young people. And secure further funding.
I developed some amazing partnerships over the course of this R&D and I want to work with these people again. I also want to reach out to established game designers and game theatre makers to consult on the progress. There is still a lot for me to learn and if I want to make this the experience young people deserve, further guidance won't do harm.
So watch out for what happens next!
